Community encouraged to nominate local sports heroes

The Wood Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Society is giving residents the opportunity to preserve a piece of sports history for generations to come.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2012 induction class.

Nomination categories include:

    Team
    Individual athlete
    Coach
    Builder

Nominations can be submitted two ways:

1. Fill out a nomination form available online at www.woodbuffalosports.com

2. Fill out a nomination form and drop it in the box located inside the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre

The deadline for 2012 nominations is Jan. 15.

In the past the Hall of Fame has inducted the likes of professional golfer Stuart Anderson, Olympic swimmer Jennifer Button, NHL defenceman Chris Phillips and the 2000 RBC Cup Champion Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
